9 Charter Day: Noon - 4:30 p.m.
The site re-opens to the public for 2008. Celebrate the anniversary of King Charles II granting the Charter to William Penn thereby creating the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1681. In the Village, tour the Natural History Museum, Baker House & Rapp House. Stop by the Blacksmith’s Shop & see smithing done as it was long ago. At the Visitor Center, discover the Out of Harmony exhibit. Free admission offered to commemorate Charter Day. |

12 Spring Garden Workshop

Master Gardeners & home gardeners alike enjoy the day learning from gardening

27-29 A Harmony Society Family Reunion
Are you a descendant of the Harmony Society members or their workers? Old Economy Village & Historic Harmony would like toinvite you to a family reunion. The festivities will include a reception in Historic Harmony’s Wine Cellar, a curator-led tour of the exhibit Out of Harmony, tours of the 1st & 3rd homes of the Harmony Society, Historic Harmony & Old Economy Village & a walking tour of Old Philipsburg (Monaca). Lectures & a special dinner will also be offered, along with an opportunity for you to share historical findings on your ancestors. Pre-registration is required, call (724) 266 - 4500, ext. 101.

4-8 Tracking Nature’s Clues- Summer Day Camp

Children ages 6 - 8 & 9 - 12 will discover the wonders of the Harmony Society’s Natural History Museum, tracking birds & wildlife & exploring astronomy & geography through hands-on activities, games & crafts. Pre-registration & prepayment required. Early registration discount available.

5-7 Steamboat Trip
Enjoy a tranquil, but action-filled trip on a steamboat as we recreate the story of the Harmony Society through their travels. Journey to Marietta, Ohio for the 33rd celebration of the Sternwheel festival. Marietta is the home of the American Sternwheel Association & home to two sternwheelers on the National Register of Historic Places. Pre-registration & prepayment required.

27 Erntefest Harvest Festival
10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.,
grounds open until 5:00 p.m.
Discover harvest time & food preservation in the early 19th century Economy. Try churning butter, making apple schnitz or pressing apples for cider. Traditional craftsmen demonstrate historic crafts. Event includes children’s activities & games. Try Old Economy’s famous baked goods;delectable homemade German food will be available at St. John’s Lutheran Church, the original Harmony Society’s House of worship will be available.

29 Christmas with Belsnickel
10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Belsnickel, St. Nick’s helper will check his great book to see which children were good & which were bad. Kids, find out if your reward will be candy or coal!
Children will decorate a gingerbread man, make a tree top Belsnickel, visit the Village decorated for Christmas & enjoy a holiday treat. For ages 6 - 12.
