Community Life in the 19th Century Economy
(Third - Sixth Grade) 2 hours

The students' tour will focus on:

  • The importance of town planning for a community
  • The importance of geography and
    transportation for a community
  • The role of the craftsman in a community
    like Economy
  • What it meant to be an apprentice
  • The role of the housekeeper in the community
  • The importance of education



19th Century Home Life
(First - Second Grade)
(Third - Sixth by Special Request)

Children will learn about:

  • Food production and herb uses
  • Children and their family chores
  • Children's leisure time activities
  • Learning in a one room school
  • The community store



19th Century Daily Life
(Pre-school ages 3 - 5 years)
1 hour

Children will help and learn about:

  • What's in our kitchen
  • Children's chores
  • Growing food in the garden
  • What's in the kitchen
  • Pumping water for the house
  • Baking bread and churning butter
  • The A-B-C classroom



Old Economy Village School Presentation:
Christmas Time for Children - "Tinsel, Gingerbread, and St. Nickolas, too!"

Throughout this tour, children will learn some of
the German Christmas Traditions. The children will enjoy a paper gingerbread house craft, learn to
sing a Christmas song, listen to a story about tinsel
and spiders, visit the store to see the wooden toys,
and a tour of the shoe shop; filling the boot with goodies. Also, enjoy singing, a tasty treat, and
a visit with Belsnickel in the Granary.
