Tis the Season

Travel back in time and experience the enchantment of a 19th-century Christmas at Old Economy Village. On December 6th and 7th, witness the village come alive with the glow of candlelit cobblestone streets and historic buildings, creating a festive winter wonderland reminiscent of yesteryear, complete with period demonstrations and local choirs performing holiday carols.

 

Kickstart your holiday shopping with distinctive handmade gifts offered by skilled artisans, and delight your children with a variety of crafts, activities, and an encounter with Belsnickel, Santa's Pennsylvania Dutch counterpart. Enjoy a special holiday train display at our visitor's Center with Fort Pitt Hi-Railers  A selection of food will be available for purchase.

$10.00 Adults

$9.00 Senior (65+)

$6.00 Youth (3-11)

Free – Children under age 3, Active duty military, and FOEV Members



 

Holiday Activities at Old Economy Village

Santa’s Workshop
  • Try your hand at woodworking in this festive hands-on space.
Blacksmithing Demonstrations
  • Watch sparks fly as traditional blacksmiths demonstrate their craft at the forge.
Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen
  • Warm up with a sample of hearty soup cooked in historic cauldrons and see how meals were made in the 1800s.
Meet the Belsnickel
  • Are you naughty or nice? Find out when you meet this traditional German holiday figure!
Model Train Display
  • Marvel at the Fort Pitt Hi-Railers’ model train layout, a delight for kids and collectors alike.
Historic House Tours
  • Stroll through beautifully decorated historic buildings and experience the holidays the 19th-century way.
Festival of Trees
  • Enjoy a forest of themed and decorated trees throughout the village—vote for your favorite!
Scavenger Hunt in the Natural History Museum
  • Don’t miss Deck the Paws, a family-friendly hunt filled with surprises and furry friends.
Write a Letter to Santa
  • Try your hand at quill writing and send a festive message to the North Pole.

Model Train Display with Fort Pitt Hi-Railers

The trains are a coming!!!! Celebrate the season with trains! The Fort Pitt Hi-Railers will be running their model trains in their display in the Granary during our Christmas at the Village event Saturday and Sunday!! Stop by and learn more about tinplate toy trains!
